On behalf of the Asian Council of Science Editors (ACSE), and under the approval by the ACSE, I, Dr. Charley Miao, Regional Director of the ACSE, was invited for the seminar on “Development and Operation of World Leading Learned Societies” to share ACSE’s societal operation and governance experience, and its major business areas and developments in Asia and China. I also found the event an opportunity to strengthen ACSE’s communication with the other leading societies in China.
As a representative of the ACSE, I have highlighted the current scenario of Scholarly Publishing in Asia and the supportive role of the Asian Council of Science Editors. My presentation covered the strategic efforts of ACSE in transforming scholarly communication in Asia since its year of birth. Moreover, I also shred light on the Core Values of the ACSE, it’s Initiatives and programs inclusive of but not limited to ACSE Editor’s Café, AMS Central, ACSE Reviewer’s Bank, ACSE Mentorship Program, IndexONE, and Trends in Scholarly Publishing. The audience not only acknowledges the efforts of the ACSE and its member’s geographical coverage in Asia but also appreciate the technical assistance and tools designed by the ACSE to facilitate Journal Management teams and the Asian publishing industry.
